Nomination to appoint Rosalie O’Mahony to the San Mateo County Treasury Oversight Committee

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the nomination by the Treasurer for the appointment of Rosalie O’Mahony to the San Mateo County Treasury Oversight Committee.

 

BACKGROUND:

Per California Government Code § 27131, the County Treasurer has elected to appoint a member of the public to join the Treasury Oversight Committee. Notice of this recruitment was posted on both the County and Treasurer’s website. After careful review of the applicants, and in accordance with the County Investment Policy, the Treasurer nominates Rosalie O’Mahony subject to the Board of Supervisor’s confirmation. Ms. O’Mahony was a member of Burlingame’s City Council for twenty years. She served as Mayor of Burlingame five times, a professor of Mathematics at the College of San Mateo, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. Ms. O’Mahony is familiar with the duties of the committee, and is aware of its important role in monitoring the investment portfolio.

 

DISCUSSION:

Approval of this nomination will contribute to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Collaborative Community as our leaders forge partnerships, promote regional solutions with informed and engaged residents, and approach issues with fiscal accountability and concern for future impacts.
