RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE A LETTER TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES AND DEVELOPMENT INDICATING THE COUNTY'S WILLINGNESS TO CONSIDER, UPON REQUEST OF THE STATE, THE ADMINISTRATION OF A COMMUNITY SERVICE BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM TO ASSIST LOW-INCOME FAMILIES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the State Department of Community Services and Development (CSD) has announced the release of a Request for Application to designate a new community action agency in San Mateo County to administer a Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) of approximately $382,950 to be used to assist low-income families and individuals achieve self-sufficiency; and

WHEREAS, if no private non-profit entity is identified or determined to be qualified to administer the block grant by CSD, CSD may designate a public agency located within the County to serve as the eligible entity; and

WHEREAS, in the event that CSD makes a determination that there is no private nonprofit qualified to administer the funds, this Board desires that CSD be made aware that the County is willing to consider, upon CSD’s request, administering the grant program:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board is authorized to execute a letter to the State Department of Community Services and Development indicating the County's willingness to consider, upon request of the State, the administration of a Community Service Block Grant program to assist low-income families.
