THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING APRIL 14^, 2011 AS

MOTHERS’ CLUBS DAY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, there are an estimated 11 Mothers’ Clubs in San Mateo County with an estimated membership of 13,000; and

WHEREAS, the Mothers’ Clubs of San Mateo County are an invaluable self-help resource for new mothers, reducing isolation and anxiety among new parents by promoting peer support and mutual assistance among parents of young children at no expense to the taxpayers; and

WHEREAS, the Mothers’ Clubs of San Mateo County contribute to the kindergarten readiness of young children by sponsoring playgroups, preschool preview nights, and other parent education events.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, in recognition of the invaluable and enriching contribution made by the Mothers’ Clubs of San Mateo County to the community life of San Mateo County, that April 14, 2011 is hereby declared MOTHERS’ CLUBS DAY OF SAN MATEO COUNTY.
