BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE: A) PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH HEALTHCARE COST SOLUTIONS TO PROVIDE CODING COMPLIANCE REVIEWS ON GOVERNMENT REIMBURSED CHARGES AT SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER FOR THE TERM MAY 1, 2011 THROUGH APRIL 30, 2014, FOR A MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION OF $300,000; AND B) CHIEF OF THE HEALTH SYSTEM OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY’S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE), AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is currently subject to a Corporate Integrity Agreement with the Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of Health and Human Services in order to promote compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health care programs and their related regulations, and in relation to that agreement SMMC requires assistance from a specialized provider with hospital compliance auditing; and

WHEREAS, SMMC conducted a Request for Proposals for such services; and

WHEREAS, Healthcare Cost Solutions was selected as the vendor for their experience, price and institutional knowledge working with providers at SMMC; and

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an Agreement to provide coding compliance reviews on government reimbursed charges for the period of May 1, 2011 through April 30, 2014, in the amount of $300,000; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement, has examined and approved it as to both form and content, and desires to enter into it.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of the Health System or designee is authorized to execute contract amendments which modify the County’s maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
