RECOMMENDATION:
|
Honor Christina Landeros as Employee of the Month for May 2011 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.
|
|
|
BACKGROUND:
|
The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.
|
|
|
Our Employee of the Month for May 2011 is Christina Landeros a Department System Analyst in the Health System.
|
|
|
DISCUSSION:
|
Christina has been employed with the County for over 22 years. She is an extremely reliable and consistent high performer. Christina recently took on the role of Department System Analyst for Health Policy and Planning and Health Administration which involved getting to know a whole new group of people, work locations, and tackle a new set of information technology (IT) issues. She also took the lead in coordinating and implementing the use of electronic medical records (AEMR) in Public Health clinics and a new State database to track communicable diseases.

Christina is flexible, responsive to customers, and graciously takes on new tasks; even some that have been outside of her comfort zone, such as taking the lead on Public Health’s website migration. She thinks creatively, such as putting forth the idea of using H1N1 funding for the Public Health Lab/SMMC Lab interface which resulted in a long awaited project being approved by the State, and then she was instrumental in its recent implementation.

Christina is proactive, questions data for reasonableness, solves problems, and performs her tasks conscientiously and tenaciously and sticks with a project until it is completed. As IT becomes an ever more important part of the work of the Health System, employees like Christina become critical factors in our success.

|
Approval of the Employee of the Month contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of Prosperous Community by recognizing employees that foster innovation and excellence in the services provided.

|
Our County is fortunate to have Christina Landeros as one of its outstanding employees.
