RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY PURCHASING AGENT TO ENTER INTO FIVE-YEAR, TAX-EXEMPT LEASES FOR PERSONAL COMPUTERS (PCS) AND LAPTOPS THROUGH THE INVITATION TO BID (ITB) PROCESS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County’s Purchasing Agent can enter into three-year lease agreements for Information Technology (IT) purchases, such as Personal Computers (PCs) and laptops; and

WHEREAS, in Fiscal Year 2008-09, the County extended the useful life for all PC’s from three years to five years; and

WHEREAS, the County’s Purchasing Department is currently working on a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a master lease for PCs with a five year term; and

WHEREAS, while the master lease RFP is in progress, the Information Services Department recommends that the Purchasing Department be allowed to enter into five-year leases with vendors selected through the Invitation to Bid (ITB) process.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the County Purchasing Agent to enter into five-year tax-exempt leases for Personal Computers (PCs) and laptops through the Invitation to Bid (ITB) process.
