HONORS AND COMMENDS

MARIE L. PETERSON

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Ms. Marie L. Peterson is retiring from the County of San Mateo after twenty-seven years of exceptional service; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson joined the County in April 1984 as extra help staff in the Board of Supervisors’ Office and quickly rose to Office Services Supervisor in 1993; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson joined the Office of Supervisor Mike Nevin in 1996 as Staff Aide and served in the role for eight years, until Supervisor Nevin was termed out of office, and Ms. Peterson re-joined the County Manager’s Office as an Agenda Clerk; and

   

WHEREAS, in July 2006, Ms. Peterson was promoted to Assistant Clerk of the Board, the office from which she retires; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson plays a vital role in the functioning of both the Board of Supervisors’ Offices and the County Manager’s Office because of her wealth of knowledge, expertise, and institutional wisdom; and

   

WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson goes above and beyond the requirements of her job description by providing frames for proclamations, bringing newspapers in every morning, and acting as a liaison between the Board of Supervisors’ and County Manager’s Offices; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson is in the office early each morning before most of the office arrives and stays late, after most of the office leaves, yet she maintains a friendly, accommodating, can-do attitude throughout the week; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors’ and County Manager’s Offices will miss Ms. Peterson’s kindness, generosity, and calm spirit in the office, and wish her all the best in her retirement;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby honors and commends Ms. Marie L. Peterson for her twenty seven years of dedication and excellent service to San Mateo County.
