SUBJECT:

Appointment of Christopher E. Cobey to the Civil Service Commission representing the Third District.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the appointment of Christopher E. Cobey to the Civil Service Commission representing the Third District for a term expiring June 30, 2014.

BACKGROUND:

Christopher E. Cobey is an Atherton resident, within the Third District boundary. He is an attorney in private practice with a specialty in employment law, primarily in the private sector, but with some public sector experience. He also served as the deputy district attorney in Los Angeles and San Mateo County in the 1970s. Chris Cobey also has experience as an elected official in the Town of Atherton, where he served as Mayor. He has extensive community activity in a variety of avenues, including serving as a volunteer temporary judge and arbitrator.

DISCUSSION:

The Civil Service Commission has the important responsibility of hearing employment conflicts.
