THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

DR. NED GROVE

Upon his retirement from the California Children’s Services program

as a provider of orthopedic care to children with disabilities in San Mateo County

WHEREAS, DR. NED GROVE is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with over 50 years of experience who graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, and pursued specialized training in orthopedic surgery for children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities; and

WHEREAS, DR. NED GROVE has been providing excellent orthopedic care to children with disabilities in San Mateo County for 40 years, sharing his vast knowledge and experience with parents, therapists, teachers and other caregivers at the California Children’s Services (CCS) Medical Therapy Conference, using exemplary judgment when evaluating children and making recommendations for surgery, therapy, orthoses or durable medical equipment; and

WHEREAS, DR. NED GROVE performed a wide variety of surgical procedures on patients with a wide variety of diagnoses and conditions, sometimes developing his own procedures, using the utmost skill and care, to ensure a positive outcome for all his patients; and

WHEREAS, DR. NED GROVE contributed to advances in the treatment of children with disabilities by attending numerous medical conferences, keeping his knowledge and skills current and presenting new findings and procedures to other professionals working with children with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, DR. NED GROVE brought his surgical skills to the people of Liberia as a volunteer with the Africa Mercy, the world’s largest charity hospital ship, working with a team that performed more than 70 surgeries; and

WHEREAS, through DR. NED GROVE’s many years of service with the CCS Medical Therapy Program, he has made immeasurable contributions to the lives of children with disabilities, using his skills and knowledge to maximize the quality of life and the functional abilities of each child he encountered,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends DR. NED GROVE for his leadership, dedication and commitment to the many children and families he served during his career and to the health community of San Mateo County and wishes him all the best in the next phase of his life.
