Appointments to the Commission on the Status of Women

RECOMMENDATION:

Appoint Katie Ferrick and Christine Padilla to the San Mateo County Commission on the Status of Women.

BACKGROUND:

On June 7, your Board of Supervisors approved the expansion of the number of adult commissioners on the Commission on the Status of Women by two seats to 19. If appointed, Ms. Ferrick and Ms. Padilla would each serve full, four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2014.

DISCUSSION:

Katie Ferrick of Menlo Park is a district caseworker and field representative with the office of Congresswoman Jackie Speier.

Christine Padilla of San Mateo is a senior field representative with the office of Congresswoman Anna Eshoo.

Both have extensive experiences within various communities across San Mateo County. They bring skills and instincts that will contribute greatly in the commission’s ongoing collaborative efforts.

They would make great additions to the Commission on the Status of Women.
