RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING

Larry Whitney

For

More Than 20 Years of Service

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, LARRY WHITNEY is recognized for many years of dedicated service to the County, keeping our community and our residents safe from fire; and

   

WHEREAS, LARRY WHITNEY served on the Board of Directors for the La Honda Fire Brigade, including serving as Board President, a firefighter, and as Chief of the La Honda Fire Brigade for 20 years; and

   

WHEREAS, LARRY WHITNEY was instrumental in forming one of the first CERT programs in San Mateo County, led trainings in wildland firefighting, both locally and at an annual statewide drill, worked with the community on wildland fuel reduction programs; and

   

WHEREAS, LARRY WHITNEY has participated in both local and statewide mutual aid, including the response to the San Bruno gas explosion and fire; and

   

WHEREAS, LARRY WHITNEY in addition to his key role in fire protection, Larry also served on the Board of Directors of the Cuesta La Honda Guild, donated time to the La Honda Elementary School, and did all this while owning and operating a successful cable TV business.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County recognizes LARRY WHITNEY for his 22 years of service. The Board expresses its gratitude and extends best wishes for many more years of success.
