RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

SERGEANT MIKE BUCKLE

WHEREAS, SERGEANT MIKE BUCKLE has served the City of San Mateo and its residents for 22 years, from July 1989 through September 2011; and

 

WHEREAS, SERGEANT BUCKLE was promoted to Corporal in 1998 and then Sergeant in 2007, and his assignments have included Patrol, SWAT, Special Investigations Bureau, San Mateo Police Activities League, lead instructor for verbal judo, tactical communications and weaponless defense; and

 

WHEREAS, SERGEANT BUCKLE implemented the PAL Judo Program and played an instrumental part in co-writing an Anti-Gang Grant which led to a series of community outreach training sessions with gang experts and members of the community to keep youth out of gangs; and

WHEREAS, SERGEANT BUCKLE, during his career, received various awards including a Distinguished Service Medal for his heroic actions in rescuing two people from a burning vehicle, the Gordon Joinville Special Merit Award for meritorious police work and community service, six different “Best Arrest Awards,” a Lieutenant’s Commendation, a Watch Commander’s Commendation, a City Of San Mateo Certificate of Special Recognition Award, the California Park and Recreation Society Volunteer Citation Award, and four separate awards from the Peninsula Council Of Lions to include Officer Of the Year in two consecutive years (1998 and 1999) and two Area Wide Awards for his outstanding service to the community while directing the San Mateo PAL program; and

 

WHEREAS, SERGEANT BUCKLE exhibits the highest dedication to public service and has received countless praise from community members and colleagues for his exemplary service;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends SERGEANT MIKE BUCKLE for his service with the San Mateo Police Department and wishes best wishes for the future.
