THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

KEITH SORENSON

2011 San Mateo County History Makers

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

 

WHEREAS, KEITH SORENSON served the County of San Mateo as District Attorney for twenty seven years, upholding the law, fighting corruption, and keeping San Mateo County safe; and

   
 

WHEREAS, after passing the California Bar exam, KEITH SORENSON joined the prestigious law firm of Kirkbride, Wilson, Harzfeld & Wallace; and

   
 

WHEREAS, KEITH SORENSON became a specialist in municipal law, winning the favor of the County Board of Supervisors and was thereby recommended for a position at the District Attorney’s office; and

   
 

WHEREAS, as Chief Deputy, KEITH SORENSON hired and supervised the young Sandra Day O’Connor, who later became the first woman ever appointed as a Justice of the United States Supreme Court; and

   
 

WHEREAS, KEITH SORENSON kept his promise to emulate the previous District Attorney, Louie Dematteis’s commitment to ridding San Mateo County of gambling, prostitution, and illegal-bookmaking;

   
 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby recognizes KEITH SORENSON as a San Mateo County History Maker and honors the historical and beneficial importance of his career to the people of San Mateo County and beyond.
