EL CENTRO DE LIBERTAD

WHEREAS, El Centro de Libertad was created in 1995 to provide critical services to low income members of the community facing substance abuse and related issues; and

WHEREAS, El Centro de Libertad is a valuable partner with the County of San Mateo in providing outpatient behavioral health and substance abuse recovery services; and

WHEREAS, this is the first time El Centro de Libertad has purchased its building and this will be the first time staff and programs will be housed in one building; and

WHEREAS, El Centro de Libertad has been able to expand its work in the past year by learning to enroll clients into the Health Plan of San Mateo and becoming equipped to bill for client services, and building a family therapy program; and

WHEREAS, El Centro de Libertad is first and foremost a partner in the community – collaborating with organizations such as the Youth Leadership Institute and Behavioral Health and Recovery Services to provide prevention activities and resources to engage the youth and adults alike on the importance of environmental prevention;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby honors EL CENTRO DE LIBERTAD upon the ribbon cutting of the new main office family center. The Board of Supervisors hereby extends its thanks to EL CENTRO DE LIBERTAD for its services to the residents of San Mateo County and wishes sincere congratulations on its accomplishments over the years.
