THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

WHEREAS, JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL was founded in 1944 as a Catholic college preparatory school for the young men of San Mateo County, and continues to excel as a leader in distinct academic and co-curricular programs, producing graduates that make a difference in the world; and
WHEREAS, JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL has spent $21 million to add capacity to the science, visual and performing arts, aquatic, and academic resources programs with the opening of the Center for the Arts and Sciences and Aquatics Center; and
WHEREAS, the new facilities will allow for an expansion of the school curriculum with pre-engineering and language classes; and
WHEREAS, these improvements will provide more opportunities for students to reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL will share these facilities with the collective community through the Serra Swim School, a co-ed summer school program for children of all ages, and enrichment camps for science, art, and music,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL for the time and effort exerted in providing new state-of-the-art facilities for the good of the students and the whole of the community. The Board congratulates Serra on the grand opening of its Center for the Arts and Sciences and Aquatics Center.
