COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

KAISER PERMANENTE

WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente began the process of rebuilding the Redwood City Hospital in June 2010 by preparing the campus for construction, and whereas Kaiser Permanente plans to complete construction by 2014; and

 

WHEREAS, the new Redwood City hospital will be 280,000 square feet and will be located next to the existing hospital, on the corner of Veterans Boulevard and Walnut Street; and

WHEREAS, the new hospital will have 149 beds, 94% being private, with a design that provides for larger rooms to accommodate visitors staying overnight; and

 

WHEREAS, the new hospital will include a healing garden, an outdoor environment that will feature California native landscaping that is drought tolerant with colors that change with the seasons, and will have an environmentally friendly design; and

 

WHEREAS, the new Redwood City hospital is designed to be open, environmentally sound, technologically advanced and to promote interaction between patients, doctors and caregivers in order to provide a high level of healthcare to residents of San Mateo County and beyond;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby honors KAISER PERMANENTE upon the groundbreaking of the site where the new Redwood City hospital will be constructed. The Board of Supervisors hereby extends its thanks to Kaiser Permanente on providing quality healthcare to the residents of San Mateo County and wishes sincere congratulations on the beginning of the construction process.
