RECOMMENDATION: | |||||||
Appoint Christian Cruz to the Youth Commission for a term lasting until October 3, 2014.
BACKGROUND: | |||||||
The Youth Commission advises the Board of Supervisors on issues related to youth in San Mateo County. The Board of Supervisors is responsible for appointing new members to the Youth Commission, based on interviews with applicants. The Youth Commission may have up to 25 members. Each Youth Commissioner is appointed to a term lasting up to four years or until they turn 21, resign from the Commission, or move or attend school outside of San Mateo County. On August 29, 2011, a resignation letter was received from a commissioner, resulting in a vacancy on the Youth Commission. During the commission interview process, two applicants, including Christian Cruz, were placed on a ranked waitlist in the event that a vacancy occurred during the 2011-12 year.
