2016 Wellness Dividends Program Wrap Up

How to confirm that you completed both steps of the Wellness Dividends program

Veggie Dollars

More than 2,700 benefits-eligible employees registered for Wellness Screening appointments--a new record in San Mateo County history!

Completing the online health assessment was the second step to fulfilling the requirement to receive a Wellness Dividend of $250.

1.  To confirm that you completed your Wellness Screening (Step 1):
•  You should have received a paper copy of your results from your Wellness Screening appointment. Keep this in a safe place since this is your proof that you completed Step 1.

2.  To confirm that you completed your online health assessment (Step 2):
•  You will need to log into your health plan account and confirm that it shows that your completion date is between January 1, 2016 and June 30, 2016.
•  Kaiser health plan member? Follow this screenshot tutorial to confirm that you completed the THA.
OR:
•  Blue Shield health plan member? Follow this screenshot tutorial to confirm that you completed the Well-Being Tracker.
3.  After August 1, 2016, your Workday account will show your completion status. If for some reason your status doesn’t show as completed even though you have proof that you did, you can take part in the appeals process.

For more information, go to the Wellness Dividends website.

Healthy Tips: Sun Safety, Fitness, Food

Summer Lime

Three monthly themes for a happy, healthy summer ahead!

Sun Safety:

•  Use sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher that says "broad spectrum" on the label.

•  Use the best type of sunscreen for you. There are no significant differences between sprays, lotions, or stick sunscreens.

•  Don't be stingy when applying. You should be using enough so that you are not using the same bottle each summer.

For more, read the full article on WebMD.

Food

Assess your current habits with this handy checklist, offered by Toni Bloom and Mary Mahoney, nutritionists and leaders of the Summer Meltdown Weight Loss Team Challenge!

Are you…

•  Grazing all day on high-calorie snacks?
•  Frequently drinking high-calorie coffee drinks, juice drinks or regular soda?
•  Consuming too much alcohol (more than 1 drink/day for women or 2 drinks/day for men OR drinking more often or much more than feels good to your body)?
•  Eating for emotional reasons (do you soothe or reward yourself with food?)
•  Eating in front of a screen such as mobile device or television?
•  Inconsistently exercising or avoiding it altogether?
•  Sleeping less than 7 hours each night or having difficulty falling or staying asleep?

With more data at your fingertips, what ONE change could you make starting today that will yield the most results? Share with us on Yammer!

Fitness: Feeling Motivated

1. Find personal motivation to exercise. What you need to get you up off the couch is a reason that's important to you.

2. Set realistic goals to get fit. You can aim to exercise for the recommended 30 minutes most days of the week, but don't try to meet them at the start.

3. Stop thinking of it as exercise--do something you enjoy. It's all about moving more -- however you do it.

4. Plan how to fit exercise into a hectic schedule. Create back-up plans to counter the barriers.
