The San Mateo County Probation Department’s role as a partner in the County’s criminal justice system is to contribute to community safety through its law enforcement, court services, supervision and treatment referral functions. It also serves the County’s vision and objectives in unity with the other departments, services and programs in the county government family.
To fulfill our role, we are committed to demonstrating the highest level of reliability, an unending pursuit of excellence, and an uncompromising standard of humane, impartial, and professional conduct.
Our commitment to “making a difference” is manifested through the application of the best practices available, partnership with devoted treatment providers, collaboration with all levels of law enforcement, conscientious management of county resources, faithful service to our courts, and the cultivation and development of our staff.
Finally, we are motivated by the principle that “Service and Duty Are Synonymous”.
