Streets Alive! Parks Alive! San Mateo County Streets Alive! Parks Alive!
Streets Alive! Parks Alive! is an annual event that began in April 2010 and was inspired by the first Active San Mateo County Conference, "Creating and Using Active Public Spaces." In his keynote presentation, Gil Penalosa challenged San Mateo County to participate in the 2010 National Institutes of Health Campaign, "1000 Cities, 1000 Lives," which encouraged cities to close streets to cars and open streets to people.
