Children's Special Dental Needs Fund
The Program
The Children's Special Dental Needs Fund provides support to children with special needs, ages 1 to 21, who are unable to receive necessary dental treatment due to lack of dental insurance, dental coverage or access to a specialty dentist. It works closely with a child's family, a health advocate, and other departments of San Mateo County in order to put a dental package together for the child with special needs.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Must be/have:
- San Mateo County resident
- Child with special needs
- Ages 1 to 21
- Requires dental treatment
- Lack of dental insurance or limited dental coverage
- Access to a specialty dentist
How do I apply?
Contact the Children's Dental Health Coordinator, at (650) 573-2248.
The general application process typically consists of the following:
- County of San Mateo Employee refers a child, on their caseload, to the Children's Dental Health Coordinator.
- Program eligibility is then determined.
- If eligible, the needs of the child are discussed.
- Arrangements are made with the child's family.
