What Is the Food Stamp Program?
The Food Stamp program provides electronic benefits for eligible low-income households. Food stamp benefits can be used to buy food at most grocery stores--they may not be traded for money or used to buy non-food items, such as alcohol and tobacco products, pet food, soap, or paper products. They may be used to buy seeds and plants for use in home gardens to produce food.
