Welcome to the San Mateo Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) web site. San Mateo LAFCo is an independent commission with jurisdiction over the boundaries of the 20 cities, 22 independent special districts and many of the 35 County-governed special districts serving San Mateo County.The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of the odd-numbered months (January, March, etc.) at 2:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers in Redwood City. Extra meetings may be scheduled as needed.

2013-03-11: San Mateo LAFCo is pleased to announce that Millbrae Council Member Nadia Holober has been selected as Regular City Member by the Council of Mayors in San Mateo County. Council Member Holober has previously served on LAFCo and replaces Sepi Richardson upon her retirement. Ms. Richardson will be honored by the Commission at the March 20 LAFCo meeting.
