Arts Commission

The Arts Commission consists of five members, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, each residing in one of the supervisorial districts. The members of the Commission are :

The Commission was formed to promote and encourage the arts, to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors, to prepare and update the county’s strategic and cultural plan and act as a liaison with arts organizations to ensure collaboration and coordination related to culture and art activities in San Mateo County. Galleries
The County Arts Commission has two galleries in County facilities that features works by local artists. Shows are currently booked through October/November 2011. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The County Arts Commission is also partnering with Artsopolis an online resource that features art events in San Mateo and allows artists to advertise their own events. Registry is free. Visit www.discoversmc.com.
The Commission develops annually a budget and work plan.
