San Mateo County Association of Grand Jurors
The San Mateo County Association of Grand Jurors (SMCAGJ) is a nonprofit organization consisting of former grand jurors who make available training guidelines and information regarding the functions, components, and structure of Petit, Civil, Criminal and Federal Grand Jury systems to citizens interested in serving on county and Federal Grand Juries. SMCAGJ also provides principals, teachers, middle and high school students with informational materials and resources that may supplement their school district's social studies and history curriculum regarding contributions made by the grand jury system since its inception. The Mission of the SMCAGJ is to encourage residents residing in San Mateo County and citizens in all 58 counties to apply for grand jury service. The Vision of SMCAGJ is to emphasize the important role grand jurors offer to the system of justice and to make citizens of California aware that grand jurors are the conscience of the community, an arm of the courts and provide government and school districts' oversight.
