How to Prepare for the Civil Grand Jury

 
After you apply or are recommended to serve on the San Mateo County Grand Jury, it is advisable that you do the following:
   
Make arrangements to get a copy of the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury Manual: Phone: (650) 363-4766 or FAX: 363-4698. Take your time and read it carefully and thoroughly.
   
If you have a computer, it is recommended that you go to the following web sites and in the space provided type: "What is a civil grand jury?" or "Civil Grand Jury".

Contact former Grand Jurors you may know and ask questions on what they think you should do to prepare for this duty.

Get permission from the San Mateo County Court Executive Secretary to visit the San Mateo Civil Grand Jury Library to review final reports submitted by sundry counties in California. Become familiar with the component elements of a final report, e.g. Introduction - Summary - Findings - Recommendations.
