SMCAGJ Student Scholarship Program
The San Mateo County Association of Grand Jurors initiated a yearly scholarship of $300 in October 2006. The scholarship will be presented to the San Mateo Union High School District's Hillsdale High School graduate who has submitted the best essay pertinent to the importance of the grand jury system in California. The scholarship will be presented to the student at the annual school's award ceremony. The Hillsdale High School Scholarship Committee will determine who the recipient of this award will be based upon the criterion below:
- Students must visit the San Mateo County Association of Grand Jurors' website: www.co.sanmateo.ca.us/smcagj.
- Students must scroll to the last page of the TEACHER'S GUIDE section and print the bookmark. This can be easily done by following the directions on that particular page.
- Students must write an essay of no more than 300 words indicating the educational benefits they felt were generated by visiting and perusing this website. [NOTE: To determine the number of words used in essays, please exclude counting adjectives or prepositional phrases.]
- On a suspense date established by the Hillsdale High School Scholarship Committee, the essay must be turned in with the bookmark stapled to it verifying that the website was visited.
